Winter Warmer

Oversized everything is the trend this season. Boyfriend blazers, wide-leg pants, menswear-boxy tees and … oversized coats.

It goes without saying that a dramatic oversized coat won’t suit every body and if you’re anything like me, the thought of adding bulk is enough to make you want to go into hibernation for the entire winter! You don’t have to go all-out Mary-Kate-and-Ashley-Olsen-bohemian-style. Choose something a little more refined – perhaps only one size up – enough to wear a cable knit underneath. The aim is to achieve the menswear trend yet remain feminine and flattering.

Don’t just think of the coat as a means to keep you warm. Think less utilitarian and more fashion statement. After all, people first take notice of you when you walk in.

I found this gem in David Jones. Kachel is a label exclusive to David Jones. Since discovering Kachel last winter, I have been obsessed with their styles, fabrics and affordability. In keeping with the monochrome trend, this coat is so current but will also last in my wardrobe for years to come.

Always mix oversized with slimline or just go all the way and add an equally monumental shoe!
