Skirt lovers avert your eyes – pants are back. Isn’t that a skirt, you ask? Oh no, they’re just pants cut with billowing legs. I wore this outfit to Day 1 of Fashion Week and everyone kept telling me how much they loved my skirt. So, I learnt to stand with a wider stance. Not very ladylike, I know, but culottes give off a tomboyish vibe anyway with subliminal elegance in their tailoring.
With the practicality of trousers and the stylishness of a skirt, it’s no wonder Culottes are predicted to be the next de riguer for womenswear.
History begs us to look to none other than Katharine Hepburn who was fond of avant-garde fashion in the 30s and 40s. She always knew how to incorporate a tailored pair into an otherwise ordinary wardrobe.
As you can see, culottes can easily be styled with an ankle boot because they don’t bunch at the ankle. Otherwise, don’t miss out on this opportunity (before the floor-length trouser returns) to show off your chic pointy toe pumps for a more ladylike feel.
A sheer blouse or tailored blazer will take these abbreviated pants into a decidedly wearable direction.
And incase you were still wondering, “culottes” is French for “knee breeches”!

I hope you are doing well! It’s been a long time!
